How It Works

Three steps to recover any deleted video

Our system automatically searches the Internet Archive's 893 billion saved pages, finds your video, and downloads it — all in one click.

1

Paste the URL

Enter any YouTube URL (even if the video is deleted) or a direct Wayback Machine URL. We automatically detect the type and extract the video ID.

2

We Search the Archive

Our system queries the Internet Archive's CDX API to find every snapshot of that video. We pick the best available capture — highest quality, most complete.

3

Download Instantly

We use yt-dlp — the most powerful video downloader available — to extract and prepare your file. Click Download and it goes straight to your device.

⚠️ What Can Actually Be Recovered?

Recovery is only possible if the Internet Archive crawled the video before it was deleted. This applies to most public videos that were up for at least a few months. Very new videos, private videos, or age-restricted content may not be available. If your video isn't found, we'll tell you clearly — no vague errors.

FAQ

Common questions

What types of URLs does this tool accept? +
Any standard YouTube URL works: youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID, youtu.be/VIDEO_ID, and channel/playlist URLs. You can also paste a direct Wayback Machine URL like https://web.archive.org/web/20190301000000*/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID.
The video was deleted years ago — can it still be recovered? +
Yes — if the Internet Archive crawled it before deletion, the age doesn't matter. We've successfully recovered videos deleted since 2008. The archive has snapshots going back over 20 years for popular content.
What quality will the recovered video be? +
Quality depends on what the Internet Archive captured. Most videos from 2012+ are available in 720p. Older videos may only have 360p or 480p captures. Free users get up to 720p; Pro users get the best available quality including 1080p and 4K where available.
Is this tool legal to use? +
The Internet Archive is a registered nonprofit library. Accessing and downloading publicly archived content for personal use is generally considered legal in most jurisdictions. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with copyright law and the original content's license. We do not host any video content ourselves — we retrieve it from the public Internet Archive.
Why does the download sometimes fail? +
The most common reasons: (1) The video was never archived before deletion. (2) The archive snapshot is incomplete or corrupted. (3) The video was private, age-restricted, or geo-blocked when archived. Our tool will always give you a specific, clear reason — never a vague "something went wrong."
Do you store my downloaded videos? +
No. Videos are downloaded to a temporary file on our server, streamed directly to your browser, then automatically deleted within 60 minutes. We do not keep copies of any downloaded content.
